Last updated: April 3, 2026. Your privacy is at the core of everything we build at CueNote. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Introduction
Welcome to CueNote. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website or use our application and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
Our service is designed to help you capture ideas and organize knowledge. To do this effectively, we process certain information you provide, but we always prioritize your control over your data.
2. Data We Collect
We collect several types of information from and about users of our Service, including:
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you register for an account.
- User Content: Text notes, transcripts, and flashcards created within the application.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use our app, features accessed, and performance metrics.
- Billing Information: Payment details are processed securely by our third-party payment processor (LemonSqueezy).
Important: Your raw audio recordings are stored locally on your device and are encrypted. We do not upload your raw audio to our servers, and we never have access to it.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide and improve our services, specifically:
- To create and manage your account.
- To sync your text-based notes and transcripts across your devices.
- To provide automated features such as transcription (processed securely and temporarily) and summarization.
- To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
Note on Transcripts: While audio is stored locally, transcripts are synced to your account so you can access your knowledge on any device. These are encrypted at rest and in transit.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with third parties in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use trusted partners to provide infrastructure, secure processing, and billing services. These partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
- Compliance with Law: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal data may be transferred, subject to the same privacy protections.
5. Data Security
We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption. We regularly review our security practices to ensure your data remains safe. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: The right to request copies of your personal data.
- Correction: The right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
